About Collaborative Law

Mary Antonia Wilmes, JD (Attorney, Mediator)

I am interested personally and professionally in peaceful non-violent conflict resolution. As a mother and grandmother, I care deeply about all children and healthy families. I believe in the importance of family, regardless of how the family is structured. I believe people can resolve their family issues with respect and fairness and I want to help them find solutions in a cost-effective way. We are coming to understand that divorce need not sever family relationships. For more information, see my website, www.sagewoman.net

General Comments
I have been a family lawyer since 1985 and a family mediator since 1993. In 1997, I co-founded Family Matters, Ltd., an interdisciplinary group of professionals who work together in helping clients resolve their cases with respect and care for each other and the children. I joined the Collaborative Law Institute in 2003. With over twenty years of experience as a family law attorney and life experiences that include being a mother of two and grandmother of six, I am convinced that people who look back on their divorce are most satisfied when they were able to resolve issues peacefully with dignity and work with their former partner as coparents if there were children. Collaborative law is a great process that can work for most people who want a better way. I enjoy helping people find the right process for them and am happy to offer a free half-hour meeting to discuss options
